motif mondays | no.8

Hello! I am once again a day late but this week I am officially revolting against the cold and rain and never-ending winter we are experiencing. Instead I am putting my brightest, most-Springy pattern up to hopefully lure in some warmer temperatures and some sunshine. This piece was inspired by the upcoming seasons, sandals, and outside events like picnics and food truck fairs.

Things are supposed to thaw out some here over the next few days and I hope that it helps get me back into a better routine of exercise and healthy eating, like some of the fruits pictured above. Here's to some sunshine!

life lately

Just wanted to share a few photos of what's been going on around here lately.  I don't think they need much explanation; we've been enjoying the weather, enjoying visits with family over Easter weekend, enjoying holiday candy and traditions, and learning to take things easy.   I'll be back this week to share some new work that will be up in the shop- so stay tuned!

pretty pairings: peach and pastel

Now that Spring is officially here I am ready to dress in sweet pastels and neutrals all season long.  Gone are the days of layers of grey and black and back are sheer blouses and a softer palette.  I am a happy girl.  How great is the combination of this perfectly accessorized outfit and this paper garland in some of my favorite colors for the season?

outfit: eatsleepwear, garland: source unknown-sorry!

Welcoming spring!

Tomorrow is the first day of Spring (yaaaaaaay!), which is in a tie with Fall for my favorite season.  I think Spring wins out due to the anticipation of gardens, deck dinners, and cut-offs.  Hop on over to Collect&Carry to see all of the spring brights I pulled together just in time for the colorful season!

the market

Just a brief interruption from wedding posts to say that spring has hit North Carolina. We are in those (very few) weeks where the temperature stays in the 70s, the nights are cool, and the only thing anyone wants to do is be outside. These days will quickly be taken over by 80 and 90 degree weather, heavy humidity, and evening mosquitoes, so one must completely savor them while they can. I began my weekend of spring time savoring with a trip to the farmers market. Never a disappointment, this week the market was especially buzzing and I came home with some great finds.fresh, colorful eggs.
peonies that won't last long but are worth every penny.
sweet berries.
a flat of tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, and squash. Just enough to get our little garden started for the year. No time for seeds this go round- but I am certainly ready to get my hands dirty today.

3.23.2010

Been totally slacking on here this week and I am sorry. I am trying to get through this week so we can go on our weekend vacation!!! And to make the vacation even better, I get to come home from it to a week off of work. I am so excited as it has seriously been four years since we have gone on a vacation by ourselves. I look forward to exploring an unfamiliar (yet somewhat close by) city for a few days.

So how did I do on the weekend goals?
Gardened and grilled. Did not do much crafting or photography unfortunately. I'd say that is ok since we also did a lot more stuff. I am still trying to get the perfect shot of Eva before she is debuted on here, so hopefully this weekend will yield some better results.

Next week's (spring break) goals:
  • sketching
  • printing some cards
  • listing some ceramics on etsy
  • cooking and lots of eating
  • being creative since I haven't remembered how to do that in some time
I don't know that putting goals on here will make me any more accountable- as I can be incredibly lazy when given a good amount of down time- but I am hoping it will. Here's to productivity!

biker babe

The longest winter ever has to come to an end soon and as soon as it does I will be ready for a nice long bike ride with the mister. As much as I love my 70's Raleigh road bike, it is extremely heavy and makes it hard to keep up when riding with others. So I am on the look out for something modern, light, and cruise-friendly (oh and budget friendly). This beauty fits all of that criteria except the budget friendly part, but isn't it just so nice to look at?

And while I am at it I will probably need a lovely little basket like one of these...
woven,
nantucket,
or scandinavian.
