New Years II

This is the skirt that I have actually purchased to wear out on New Years Eve. I don't know about the top yet, just don't want to overdo it with that sequins skirt!

best

best news ever. Garance Dore- one of my and so many other blog lovers favvvvvvorite blog ever just did something amazing- came out with an English version. I have spoke of Garance Dore on the blog before but if you have never visited for yourself you must do so- now. The fashion and photography is spectacular but my guilty pleasure are the incredible illustrations. So much talent from one person in such a small space. Aaaaaaah. Here is a sneak peak but as soon as you are done here you must directly head over to check out all of the loveliness that is Garance Dore.

favorite things

Things are slowly returning to normal around here. Submitted my work for the art show yesterday- my first ever, very exciting! Work is finally starting to slow down and soon we will be on holiday... can't come soon enough. I am starting to get into all my Christmas present making- now that my work for the show is finally gone- and I came across the greatest thing today. It is a gift guide on Etsy, they have tons of different ones, but the one I saw this morning (while I should have been teaching) incorporates my absolute favorite things- woodland and feathers. Here are some of my fave images from the guide and a link to check out all of the other guides, which are equally amazing.

Oh, and for the best news ever, I am currently typing this on MY BRAND NEW MACBOOK!!! It is the best Christmas gift to myself ever!!!!

calendar!

Here are my fave 2009 calendars that would make lovely holiday gifts. I think that I may try to make and reproduce my own for some of the sweet people in my life. My family has decided to do all handmade (by you or someone else) or green gifts this year. I am hoping that green will include money for my new MAC that I will be ordering soon! Hooray!

feels like forever

It has been far too long. School started back, thus did my job, and I have been trying to juggle so many things. This blog, unfortunately got pushed to the back burner during the midst of everything else. I am back, however, because I am looking for inspiration. I have been trying to create for the past few weeks and have just felt dried up and really worthless. Nothing creative or insightful has made its way to the surface. I am hoping that compiling some images and things that are currently inspiring me will help to reignite my own ability to produce. I'll let you know if i have any luck.

Have been loving these polaroids by she hit pause studios, lately. Some of his work is a little racy for my taste but some have a great dreamy quality about them. Enjoy.

Mocuin Fall 08

Found this lovely fall line by Mocuin today and wanted to share. I've never heard of the brand before but it is really beautiful. Plus, I want to be hanging out with everyone in these photos. Photography by Kara Healey.

woodland

I'm not sure exactly what I would do with this tiny tree stump from the etsy shop of poodlebreath, but I just love it. So tiny and detailed. I could probably add it to the collection of ceramic birds and squirrels I have accumulated from my grandmother. I'll post a pic of those soon. Oh woodland love! Besides this the shop has some great ceramic deer and rabbit pendants and other lovely treats.

oh, and i'm just testing out this other font. don't mean to be all over the place but I like how it looks like a typewriter.

blog love

garance dore. I have no idea what anything but her titles say (it's all french), but this is one of my most favorite blogs! Her illustrations are to die for and her fashion photographs are INCREDIBLE. She somehow manages to find the most natural, demure, fashionable street people to feature. Check out all the beauty her blog has to offer. enjoy!

is this a mistake?

So I did it. Yesterday I bought my first pair of high-waisted shorts. They are very simple, dark denim with a buttoned-cuff. Why do I say first pair? I don't think I will have a need for more than one pair of these in my wardrobe. I am certainly nervous but I think paired with a simple tank or ruffly, feminine top, they could possibly work. My boyfriend seemed a bit skeptical when he came home and saw me sitting on the front porch with them on, but he'll come around. Above are a cute pair I found on Urban Outfitters and a picture of the loveliest girls ever, one of which has absolutely no problem pulling off this trend.

beginnings

First post. My loveliest sister Liz set this blog up for me a few months ago and, honestly, I have just been to scared to get it started. I started reading and following a few blogs only about 6 months ago, so I am very new to the game. The ones I am most interested in have to do with design, home decor, crafts, diy, and fashion. I am not sure yet how to focus all of my varied interests into this one little space, so it is destined to change quite a bit and possibly be somewhat crazy. I am a high school art teacher and I have about four more weeks until i go back to work, so i am going to see how much i can get into this as a daily routine before then. Right now I assume I am the only one that will be reading any of these posts but I plan on reaching out to some of my fave bloggers to get some tips on how to get organized and do all the fun stuff.
i promise it will get better. xo.
